The ID.BUZZ has standard Car-Net, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to remotely unlock your doors if you lock your keys in or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The Gravity doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the ID.BUZZ and the Gravity have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, front seat center airbag, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

The Volkswagen ID.BUZZ weighs 476 to 685 pounds more than the Lucid Motors Gravity. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

There are almost 32 times as many Volkswagen dealers as there are Lucid Motors dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the ID.BUZZ’s warranty.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the ID.BUZZ’s wheelbase is 8 inches longer than on the Gravity (127.5 inches vs. 119.5 inches).

For better maneuverability, the ID.BUZZ’s turning circle is 1 foot tighter than the Gravity w/Rear Steering’s (37.4 feet vs. 38.4 feet).

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the ID.BUZZ’s middle and third row seats recline. The Gravity’s middle and third row seats don’t recline.

The ID.BUZZ’s cargo area provides more volume than the Gravity.

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the ID.BUZZ Pro S Plus’ liftgate can be opened and closed just by a gesture, leaving your hands completely free. The Gravity doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its liftgate, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the Gravity, the ID.BUZZ has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The ID.BUZZ’s standard sliding doors can be opened with less than three inches side clearance. The Gravity’s standard rear swing-out doors are bulky and make loading in tight spots difficult.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the ID.BUZZ to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Gravity doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the ID.BUZZ has a standard rear wiper. The Gravity doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

The ID.BUZZ’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The Gravity’s power mirror controls are embedded in the infotainment system, seriously distracting drivers who have to adjust them while driving.

The ID.BUZZ has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the Gravity.

The ID.BUZZ is available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The Gravity doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
